Without Shade, Without Rest examines the fight for heat protections for outdoor workers in Florida in the wake of the hottest year on record, where rising temperatures collide with new political restrictions.

The film follows two organizations pursuing different strategies toward the same goal. In Immokalee, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers builds heat standards into its Fair Food Program through the Worker-driven Social Responsibility model, extending a framework that makes protections enforceable on the ground.

In Miami, WeCount! organizes the Que Calor campaign, pressing for local legislation that mandates workplace safeguards.

As state lawmakers move to block new regulations, the groups turn toward collaboration. Together, they work to expand enforceable standards across Florida’s fields and nurseries through CIW’s Worker-driven Social Responsibility approach.
